We could no longer resist, the weather was perfect, the skies were blue, and who really really cares if my floor needed mopped? Another bike ride to the creek, hoping to reenact yesterday’s dramatic swim fest. Alas, nothing so lively. Dally attempted another run up the steep bank, but she had much less momentum today and didn’t make it to the top. However, she was smart enough to go along the edge of the creek to a place she could easily climb out. She came back full of houndstongue, so tomorrow I must dedicate some time to brushing her out! But the light was good, the grass was green, and all the rocks are red! I managed to take a lot of photos, so I’ll share some the next few days. I kept an eye out for buffalo skulls, we have found 3 partial ones this year. I have left stacks of other buffalo bones along the creek, but somehow a femur doesn’t cause great excitement like a skull! I also found the largest clam shell I’ve ever seen in Wyoming… 3.5″ across and in perfect shape! But one shouldn’t be greedy, and the gods didn’t reward me with a skull… and oh, by the way, I can shout it to the world… I am now officially a member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma! Yes! I received my Certificate for Degree of Indian Blood from the Bureau of Indian Affairs, and it was soon followed by my membership card. So, Uncle Vic, should you read this and ever decide to run for Tribal Council, I can finally vote for you!!! Pretty day, good dogs, and great news…what more can you ask for???
