Along with my zillion photos of the Tetons, Jackson, and Idaho that I shared with you last week…
I took some photos of signs that you may not see in your daily commute.
This one…
along with a “snowmobiler”…
“cattle on road”…
and “open range”…
are all fairly typical and reflect our lifestyle in Wyoming.
“Deer” is common as well…
but you’d BETTER pay attention if there are orange flags with it!
That means they are serious about their trespassing…
deer don’t look both ways before crossing the road!
Many stretches of Wyoming highways are declared Scenic Byways…
forgive any blurriness…
these were all taken at high speeds out my window!
See that big rocky hill and guardrail in front of you?
I suggest going right…
See those big trees and empty space in front of you?
Yup… better go left…
OK…
I mean…
you’re in the MOUNTAINS…
the road ain’t gonna be straight!
You didn’t pay attention…
so we’ll just add a BIGGER sign and YELLOW LIGHTS for those of you still tuned into your ipods and cell – phones – with – NO – RECEPTION…
Ohh… NOW we have your attention!
I think this should say “AVALANCHE! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!”
Just around the corner from the AVALANCHE sign was this one…
uh…
I know they do litter patrol in the summer…
but it makes you giggle when you think of the Teton Science School coming out to pick up after an avalanche…
I don’t want to be the sponsor of this litter patrol!
My dad used to tell me the story of “Fallen Rock”…
the Indian who was lost…
For truckers who lost their brakes…
make it through the next 2.5 miles and your life might be saved…
just remember left…
not right!
Sorry, but the batwing chaps really make him look like he has a dress on…
I vote for plain cowboy cut Wranglers on that cowboy!
Ooooooh! Let’s see what signs Idaho has to offer…
By the by…
you can always tell when you leave Wyoming…
the roads get rougher!
Not highway signs, I know…
but two of the prettiest gate headers I’ve seen…
this one with all the wheat that probably paid for the sign…
This one for its 3 dimensional-ism…
that is a word, right?
GOOOR GEous!
Just in case you need to double check what you just hit on the road…
They should have put a deer, an antelope, and a jackrabbit on there instead of doubling up…
And watch out for other drivers that just hit wildlife on the road, too…
I didn’t get a photo of my favorite “Be Bear Aware” sign…
but it’s out there…
somewhere near Jackson, Wyoming…
go for a drive in the scenic Cowboy State!
