The latest?
Victoria found while shopping for her wedding dress, that veils are horribly expensive! I believe she quoted $200 for the waist length one she had looked at. Being the intelligent woman she is, she said “No, thanks!” to the bridal shoppe and then requested that I make her one.
Now sewing is pretty low on my list of favorite activities, if not the lowest… I can take it in small doses, though. That’s how the quilts get done… but hand work? Sure, I can do that.
A yard of simple netting for $3.50…
A blingy hair comb for $6.00…
Some bugle beads and others… $15.00 or so… we were a little unsure of what we wanted… but purple bugle beads were hard to find… I used about $4.00 worth!
Purple beading thread $3.00…
So here goes.
I sewed the netting onto the comb…
The bugle beads we ended up with are silver and clear in random order… the purple thread added just a hint of purple to them…
I turned the edge of the netting under twice to create more of a border… the expensive veil just had a rough edge on it, believe it or not! Now the original had a bead in every “V”… but Toria wants to see it in person before/if I add more…
It looks pretty good… She’ll decide if she wants any more bling added next time she comes home. The photo doesn’t do it justice, Toria!
Tonight I finished a project for Brandon… I’ll share that tomorrow.
Why all the “craftiness”? It is snowing outside. Blizzarding. Tomorrow I’m not going to work in my yard, or cowboy, or ??? Actually, I shouldn’t say that… I’ll jinx myself! I *plan* on being a sissy, staying inside, and getting creative!
