Piggysitting
The past few years I've been making a goal list.

Things I want to accomplish or try.
Like welding.
And this year I learned welding and created my Crane In Grass.
This hasn't been on any of my lists, but it presented itself and whattheheck! I'm up for an adventure!
Piggysitting.
The neighbors called... it's fair time... and their sow was ready to farrow. Could I come watch her while they went to town and watched their daughters in the steer show? She might not even start until they got home about dark... Just read a book and check on her every half hour?
"You realize all I know about pigs would fit in a thimble... that when I try to think of something I know about farrowing/pigs/hogs/whatever... all I can come up with are lines from Babe or Charlotte's Web?"
"Sooooome pig!"
I've helped calve and whelp and lamb (a kajillion years ago)... so what could go wrong? Besides a cranky momma, caesarians, death, mastitis...
Perhaps it was the scary stories my Mom told me of their mean ol' sow they owned when she was a little girl... so I WAS a tad nervous... But I went up to the neighbors' and was placed in charge.
This sow is BIG.
As in HUGE.
More like HUMONGOUS.
Like 500+ pounds of PIG!

Long story...
But look what I accomplished!

Plus one! (who was born after dark!)
The full story and, hopefully, movies as well, will be up tomorrow!
Please return here to enjoy Piggysitting Part Two!

Those are some cute piglets. Well done, midwife! Doesn't look like you would have been able to get *any* reading done!

Baby animals are just the most adorable creatures anywhere, and pigs are fun. They are very intelligent and hysterical to watch. Congratulations on your new title, porcine mid-wife.

Heck they look like a herd of Border Collies. Chaulk up a new one in the lifes book of learning. Thanks again for being so faithful in entertaining us.

Aw. I miss the baby pigs. We raised them for about ten years. They are the coolest animals.

What was that line from Gone With The
Wind...."Oh, Miss Scarlett, I don't know
nothin' about birthing babies" ~~~~~~~~~
You did a great job, Carol. Your comments just made me think a little bit
about Gone With The Wind!
