Ready to Start All Over Again
Weighed calves for most of the day today and about overheated.

It was in the mid '80's, I think, but I swear it felt more like the 90's!
I even got to spend half the day inside actually weighing the calves, but I guess I was still wiped out from yesterday. Here it is only 7:20 pm and I'm ready for shower and bed... especially since we ride early tomorrow morning!
So my view was this for most of the morning...

Our scales inside the scale house...

Keeping track of all the figures... #'s, dates, weights, steer/heifer...

Guess who's not doing his job today?
No surprise... I'm inside so *he's* inside!

So's she.

The best part of the day for Lucas... was helping for the pitiful quarter mile down across the bridge. He was a happy puppy!
We're weaning the last bunch tomorrow... so these past few days start all over again.
Gotta love that!

Those are nice weaning weights! Especially if they have been off their mommas for awhile. I think all that bawling makes 'em lose weight!

Thanks! It definitely makes 'em lose weight! They did ok... high as 660, low as 370...(bums, twins, and sick mommas) most were in the 500's easy.

Thanks for loving my site! Lucas was run over at 7 months... he has nerve damage and wears the large pad off since he runs all wobbly now. I keep the "redneck wrap" on his foot for a layer of protection. Made of vet wrap and duct tape... it's much cheaper than losing a fancy expensive boot every other day. I challenge any boot maker to send me a boot that would stay on!

that is so sad!! he seems to be very well and very happy. duct tape was such a good invention. it has certainly came in handy for me at least a million times!! take care!!

Interesting to see this side of your work.

I am glad Lucas' paw is almost healed, and hope one day that it is completely healed on the bottom. Sounds like he is happy with his somewhat modified life as a working ES. Devotion - it goes both ways from dog to master and back.
