This Is a Sweet Car

Here's a guest post from my son, Brandon:
Well thank you, ma'am, for that lovely introduction. (She loves it when I call her "ma'am").
First, I want to say that I didn't expect my mom to agree. After all, I'm the one still in college and still working on being educated in such matters as writing.
As a matter of fact I just paused my reading of Aristophanes' Clouds for Greek civilization to see if I could in any way entertain you.
Since I don't know if I'll ever be allowed to do this again, I would just like to give a brief insight into my life. . . The kind of turn around that goes on at times such as these. I'm given the chance to return home from my college life in Laramie.
Most of my days are filled with going to class and listening to the lectures of professors or going to work at Trade Tool Innovations before I return to my house and try to stay warm with our two space heaters. . . I'm too cheap to pay for gas for a broken down furnace and the University of Wyoming is at 7200 ft so it gets pretty chilly.
Now, by comparison, I'm sitting here after a delicious Thanksgiving meal next to a crackling fire.
And let my tell you, I am STUFFED. This is about as far away from my college life as you can get. I live two blocks from McDonald's in Laramie and frequently visit there for a McDouble and 2 Hot'N'Spicy's. Take that and compare it to my day today:
Woke up and went outside into the brisk, fresh morning air of the Wyoming range and walked over to see how my Dad's snowmobile project was coming. Then I came to my parents' house and helped Mom cook up a feast of turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, jello salad, green beans, sweet potatoes, green salad, some other green salad thing. . . I'm talkin' about things that I don't even know the name of.
It's absolutely crazy!
You just can't beat a good home-cooked Thanksgiving meal.
So many things to be thankful for where I am. As far as I am concerned, there isn't a thing that can beat the beauty of Wyoming. Not just the nature, but the people and the isolation. . . Don't get me wrong, I do like people, but to really know what's in the world you have to be able to escape them (in my opinion). And not that I've been everywhere. . .
I'm thankful for the family I have, those who are still with us and those who have passed on.
Thankful for this country that we live in. . . even though we may not always agree with what has or is happening.
The ranch itself that gives us what we need. One of the most basic relationships you can have. If we take care of the ranch, it'll take care of us. . . No petty fights or disagreements (though sometimes it feels like there are). It's as true to us as a meadowlark is to spring.
For everything we have been given because I know I have been given a lot in this life. Things too numerous to count. Even like being given the opportunity to steal my mother's blog for a day. . . We'll see if she ever lets me come back. haha
Thankful for everything that is to come, even though we don't know what it is.
Maybe someday she will let me come talk to you about something else, but for now I want to thank you for letting me talk to you a little bit about my life and this Thanksgiving Day that I've just enjoyed back on the Ranch.

Great guest blog. Sounds like a wonderful Tnanksgiving.
Gotta love Grandpa Greet's old Chevy. He must have parked it there in 1960 and it hasn't moved since.
