Until Spring

The kids have been here, so we've eaten and talked and laughed and played a game or two and eaten and watched tv and built fires and eaten and hauled wood for more fires and eaten and napped and then this morning Vernon drove to Buffalo and purchased this...

So... we're NOT looking for a good used four wheeler anymore!  We have one!

I finally went up to the Mills Place this afternoon just to get out of *my* house... and I dinked around up there for just a bit.

Other than the four wheeler, nothing of note occurred other than family bonding time!

Brandon has already headed back towards Laramie.  His girlfriend had a small gig tonight... she occasionally sings with a band... so he's watching her and then continuing on.  He has one more week of classes then finals week!  Then he'll be off for Christmas break!

Toria and Matt will leave first thing in the morning... then it'll get quiet around here again.

The days will be blue and grey and blue/grey/white and snowy and quiet.

The dogs will bark back at the coyotes, and a hush will fall when they stop.

More snow will appear and temperatures will drop.

The cows will chew their cud and grow fatter every day.

The horses and deer will run in the cold, their breath steaming and frosting their hair and whiskers.

An engine will rumble in the distance, the cold air carrying sound farther than usual.

Darkness will fall earlier, and the second layer of stars will appear in shimmering glory.

Wyoming has tucked her head under the warm covers and each white layer buries her farther.  Deeper.  She's laid to rest until spring.

Carol, this was an especially nice description. And the very last line
    is brilliant!

I haven't been reading your blog for very long; so if this has already been answered, excuse me. Why did you buy another house? (The Mills' place.) Who will live in your current house when you move?

Hey, welcome to Red Dirt!  We bought a small part of a neighboring ranch which includes the house I call the Mills Place.  Daniel, my oldest son who just graduated from college will live in this house when we move...  hope you enjoy this piece of Wyoming!

Sybann, sometimes I feel like we have a few too many houses around here... then remember I have two sons that'll probably be having families of their own within a few years!  So there'd be room for a while....  !  Glad you liked it!
