Valentine Volunteer

Someone took a little valentine to their little library.

Someone giggled at the size of the little valentine.

Someone hoped that the message would be heard by every patron and they would join the Friends of the Ten Sleep Library.

Someone hoped that every person would find something to believe in and VOLUNTEER their time, experience, caring, and LOVE no matter the cause.  It brings you a warm fuzzy giggly type of feeling!

Go ahead, give a shout out to the causes you've volunteered for!

That library is so blessed to have such a great group of volunteers. Not many small libraries have a strong group like yours has.

Volunteers are such an integral part of small non-profit organizations. I have volunteered at a wildlife rehab center, a horse rescue, an organization reading for the print disabled, and as a tax preparer for low-income families.

I volunteer at One Step Closer Therapeutic Riding (www.osctr.org). In addition to serving adults and children with disabilites, we are just starting a Wounded Warriors program! Equine therapy is awesome.

I study recovery from traumatic brain injuries as a living, so I also serve at numerous Brain Injury events each year (like Walk for Thought: http://biacal.donordrive.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=donordrive.home&referrer=calbia.donordrive.com&appLanguage=DEFAULT;en_US). The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and the tragic shooting of Gabrielle Giffords have increased public awareness of traumatic brain injuries, but so much remains to be done.

Advice from one who knows: take care of your head! If you are dealing with something that moves on wheels or hooves, if you get up on a ladder to clean your gutters or trim trees, wear a helmet. It really could make the difference between a normal life and a life of severe disability. Protect your greatest treasure - your brain!

OK, I'm off the soapbox - haha.
