A Zillion Flowers
The other evening, we took a drive up the mountain road. I hadn't been up yet this year, and we figured it was time for a little relaxing drive.

It's always fun...
seeing how thick the wildflowers are at the base of the mountain, and how on top the Spring Beauties are still in evidence. Spring Beauties are known for blooming immediately after the snow drifts retreat!
We also checked the road to see if we could reach our pasture.
We can't.
There's still snowdrifts in the road... and my Durango is no pickup.
There's our pasture over there by the trees...

I discouraged any further attempt at getting closer... it was late in the evening after all...
Up by the sheep corrals were these wildflowers.
I figured I'd just ask you, my loyal readers... what kind? You did so well with the common Star of Bethlehem from the other day... I think I can throw my Wildflowers of the Rocky Mountains away!

We visited with two sets of neighbors... also out, seeing what they could see...
And on the way down... the light was just absolutely perfect.
"I can't stand it anymore, you've gotta stop!"
Vernon was patient... and I rushed out of the car... laying down on my belly surrounded by a zillion flowers and the warmth of the setting sun.
It was hard not to take a good photo is that setting!

Hi Carol, I was thinking about Dally trying to get in and be with Elsa's puppies and not being accepted. Has Elsa shown any interest in the new puppies and if so, is Dally letting Grandma visit? I love your wonderful pictures, thanks! Lou Anne

the flowers look like some kind of anemone... or at least how our carolina anemones look with their fuzzy skirts....
it's so nice to see wild flowers. ours this year were nonexistent. Easter just didn't have the same flair of spring excitement as past ones have. (I live north of San Antonio, Tx).
Love the babies and love watching them get bigger!

Carol, I stopped also on the way down the mt. next morning. Unbelievable beauty. The fuzzy leaves on your lavender flower looks like a sugarbowl but the flower color and heads up position doesn't look quite right. I just hope against hope that they last two more weeks.

I believe the flowers as Pasque flower and is an Anenome family member. Beautiful photo of it!

Ah yes! The gorgeous pasque flower or wild crocus! They are our first wildflowers of the spring here in North Dakota! You'll usually only find them growing in native grassland/pasture. Love your photos of the flowers - especially the lupines too are one of my all-time favorites! Bet it's a spectacular show of color with all the water you've been getting!
