I took this photo a few years ago. I was reminded of it as the snow poured down with this latest storm. I watched as it sifted down six or seven inches in Ten Sleep, while I worked, warm and dry, in the library.
I know, though, that there were farmers and ranchers out in that weather, working to feed and protect their livestock.
Been there. Done that.

Carhartts…..something else to be thankful for. A lot of what we do for the animals now had not been invented in the days before Carhartts but there was still plenty of time spent out in the weather. I remember my dad trying to get his out side clothes dried out and ready to wear the next day. The open oven door, the smell of wet wool mixed with the smell of silage and let’s face it, manure. Feeding wood and coal to the fire, going back outside for more wood and coal. Now Carhartt even makes coats for dogs!
