Another day, another dollar.
Made a bigger loop today… well, OK, we hauled out and then rode… so it wasn’t really a circle shaped ride.
More like an “r”…
With multiple squiggly lines radiating out…
Left at 6:30.
Back at 3:30.
People/horses/dogs all getting tired.
We will be even more tired after tomorrow, when we try to cover the entire pasture and find our last 60 head.
It would be easier if all the people with cows out there were bringing theirs in, but it is just 3 of the 5, so you don’t have to bring all the cows. So you ride by some and leave them behind and then someone else may see them from a distance and reride them thinking they haven’t been looked at. Or worse, you assume someone rode through a bunch and you DON”T go over and check.
Then you end up 60 pairs short.
Well, to be fair, we haven’t covered the entire pasture yet, so they could be in unridden country.
Found out a fence was down, so some could have got into another pasture.
I could be off on my count, so we might just need 56 pairs.
Or so.
About that.
Somewhere in there.
Why in the world is it SO HARD to count SLOW moving cows through a gate???
I mean really.
I CAN usually count to 105 quite easily, but yesterday, I’d go …. 34… 35…and that one will be 36.
Now.
Hold it.
Did I say this one was 36 or the next one will be 36?
Crumb.
I am easily confused.
Even more when I’m sore and achy, part 2.
Part 3, coming up.
