A couple of months ago, my best friend found a wooden tray at, I think, a garage sale… Knowing about all my woodburning that I do, she gave it to me, saying… “maybe do something for me…”
So I did.
I finally gave it back to her, for her birthday present. Of course, I was a month LATE… but, hey.
I *was* working on the TABLE…
Now, it wasn’t ugly by any means… but, let’s see what I can do. First, the sealant was sanded off, handles removed, and since my friend likes sunflowers and things cowboy/western, I decided to give it a look like a leather tooled sunflower concho.
A big sunflower in the center… and some around the sides…
Throw on a rope border, some basketweave in the background… maybe more shading. And, finally… finished.
Even though I can see where I made mistakes… I still liked it. Now the dilemma of how to finish it. After posting on Instagram, I took the advice of a fellow woodburner (much more accomplished than I). Since I had the cutting board conditioner already, that’s the choice I went with.
Wow. It’s really dark. But nothing I can do about it.
Back to what it once was… ta-da! Happy birthday, K.J.!
Find me here!
So beautiful! How many hours did you work on this? KJ’s a lucky girl.
I never keep track of time… I just do it!
Oh My Goodness!! That is Jawdroppingly Gorgeous!! I love how dark it came out. It looks so rich!!
Thanks. It looks much better in person!
Gorgeous….lucky friend
Thank you!
Wow! this is very nice. I rope border and basket weave are perfect additions to the sunflower and leaves. Are you working in your studio for these different projects, or is it too hot?
Actually, I haven’t been. It’s been cold and by the time it’s warm out there, it’s time to do other things… which is a poor excuse. I usually go out there after letting my chickens out, and just relax for a few minutes. It’s still a wonderful place!
Wonderful. A very special gift.
Thanks!
Drop dead glorious!! One VERY blest friend.
Thanks
