Outing

Posted on May 9, 2022May 9, 2022

Mother’s Day was cold and windy. Our planned trip in the side by side was tabled. We stayed out of the weather until finally Vernon suggested we just take the pickup. It’s a slower trip but warmer!

Halfway up there, I received a Facetime video from Victoria. We sat there in the pickup and had a good visit. What a world! We hung up and two minutes later spied five bull elk crossing the road in front of us. The hillside was covered in shooting star and yellow bells… since the day was grey, I didn’t take photos, but I’ll take some on a brighter day.

We were just up here a few weeks ago, but since then, heavy rain has washed the road… and an elk was kind enough to leave an antler where we’d find it.

I missed my chance to train on Bravo to ”find the bone” on this antler, but for the next two… I had the chance to encourage him to “find the bone”.

He kind of has the idea… though I wish he was really good at it!

We also found a not so good thing. Wind blew one of our solar panels off… but it’s undamaged and we’ll repair it someday.

It was a good outing but we were glad we had the warmth of the pickup!

Great that you had an interesting Mother’s Day Adventure. Wise choice to use the pick up and stay warm..

Beautiful green grass! Thankful y’all got rain! Do you use the solar panels for electric to help pump water to the pasture? Just curious?

The solar panels pump water out of a 500′ canyon to our pasture.

Nice outing with Bravo checking out some special finds. The wildflowers must be awesome right now! Good luck with the solar panel when you get to reinstalling it.

Looking forward to the pictures of the shooting star flowers.

The winds must have been something to blow solar panels off, but they’re not protected by a roof like mine are. Glad it wasn’t damaged.
