Counting Our Blessings
As news comes out of the Black Hills about ranchers losing up to half of their herd in the Atlas Blizzard, we voted to bring our cows out of the snow and off the top of the mountain. They were happy, spread out and grazing some tiny regrowth from the moisture… but there’s another storm…
Slow Photo
A snowfence near Cheyenne shows how it catches blowing snow. They are now replacing wooden slat fences with “living fences”. Trees are planted in rows just like a snowfence, but the melting snow provides the extra moisture needed by the trees… unnatural flora for windswept plains. Well… the past few days… WordPress is taking forever…
Back to Cows
It’s nice to be home… I arrived just after dark… enough to see that my yard is now refilled with limbs and leaves… the first pile I had hauled off BEFORE I left! There’s lots to put back together… It’s that way across much of the state… the Black Hills were hit much worse than…
Buying and Selling
Well, it was a day of “Do we leave?” or “Do we stay?” The roads were closed at first, then opened, then closed due to a crash… We got a phone report from another librarian, who told us about a dozen cars were off the road, and travel time was doubled. We weren’t leaving in…
WyLA Ends and Atlas Begins
The storm blew in and it was nasty today. It has been dubbed Atlas by the weather guys, and it was STRONG! That’s alright, I spent most of the day in meetings anyway. Rich and Sandra Wallace were our children’s author guest speakers, and they did a wonderful job, each spoke about their latest books……
Wyoming Library Opening Reception
OK, so not everyone is on facebook, so I managed a quick video of some of my pics from yesterday’s opening reception at the Cheyenne Depot. it’s very basic, but you get the idea! Posting from my iPad is interesting, but I’m figuring it out! I expect tomorrow’s post will be weather related, as they…
Keeping You Posted
I left the fall colors of the Big Horn Mountains this morning, and ended up on the green high plains surrounding Cheyenne. I’m here with the Wyoming Library Association for our big fall conference. I’m sure you heard about the big floods in Colorado a few weeks ago, well, at the same time it was…
The Joke
Well, the plan was to head to Cheyenne today. The Wyoming Library Association’s convention is starting tomorrow. We had hoped to do a few side trips as all the library meetings keep us hopping and there’s no time to explore Cheyenne. You know, the State Museum, some antique stores, whatever we could find… My boss’…
Feedback
Not much today… Put some photos on display at American National Bank in Worland, Wyoming. Some of my favorites aren’t there… they SOLD while at Second Street Bakery! And speaking of sold… I can’t seem to keep the local gift store in felted soap… so my stockpile I wanted to create before putting them up…
Ready for Glass
A little adjustment. Some cuts. Some shims. Lots of screws. The frame is in… ready for glass!
Amazed At What I Do
Yup. Snow. Here’s my house as I was leaving for work this morning. It is HEAVY. and WET. Branches breaking off and falling on our roof was our wake-up call this morning. It made you just a little nervous… Everything was sagging under the weight. Then, for kicks and giggles, I decided to take a…
