Big Trails

Posted on May 4, 2009December 20, 2014
I’ve been painting a fair amount up at the Mills Place… every room needs painted and I’ve only painted the kitchen… now most of the mud room… next will be the office.
I take Lucas with me 99% of the time… he lost out day before yesterday when he had helped with some corral work and was covered in deep dark doodoo, yes, it does exist… in our corrals.  My Durango does have some limits.
Lucas and Dally were with me yesterday though.
I make them stay in the fenced yard.
I’m mean that way…
With the highway right there… I’m nervous.
Plus it is the end of/beginning of the pavement, depending on which way you’re going… so speed seems to be a factor.
As soon as you hit the pavement you zoom.
As long as you are on the pavement… you zoom.
The dogs seem to give a big sigh when all I do is load them up and bring them home… there are SO many interesting smells up there.
So we took a walk yesterday.
The area is called Big Trails… there actually was a post office here by that name.  And a school.  We used to vote up here too…
Big Trails.
Because so many game and buffalo trails crossed the area.
See?
Big Trails1
Look again.
Big Trails2
Coming down the ridge…
That’s one…

Carol, Wyoming rancher

Since 2008, I’ve kept this photographic journal of life on our working Wyoming ranch.  I share ranch work, my family, crafts and DIY, my English Shepherds, Bravo and Indy, and a love for this land.  Enjoy this red dirt country!
