After the long day of riding last week…
the weather turned on us…
even colder and nastier than before.
So…
we flew to town to get building supplies for our various projects one day…
Vernon took his “new” snowmobile up the mountain to check for leftover cows the next…
He didn’t find anything…
Then we actually took most of the day off on Sunday to watch the Broncos win their game in their ugly “retro” uniforms.
Today…
we were back at work looking for the cows.
I had left Lucas and Elsa behind…
Dally is my dog for longer days like this might turn out to be.
Imagine my amazement…
when…
while sorting some of our heifers out of Uncle George’s herd…
I heard the galumphing of Lucas behind me.
Yes…
Lucas galumphs.
Sure enough the brat had followed us!
He was probably following us down the highway when he heard us yell or whistle or something…
and cut across the various draws to find us.
We were 3 miles from home.
I had seen a car on the highway slow down and stop earlier.
Since practically everyone up here knows Lucas…
they had probably recognized him and tried to either pick him up or tell him to go home.
Neither worked and he was SOOOO happy to have found us and be able to work cows!
Dang it…
Next time I’ll have to tie him up.
We did a fair bit of riding…
believe me, I didn’t want to repeat last year’s wreck with Lucas!
But with all the fresh snow on the ground and a few half frozen puddles…
Lucas wasn’t TOO hot nor TOO thirsty.
It actually was a fairly nice day to ride…
the sun was warm enough.
I needed sunglasses!
But, Mother Nature, if you’re listening…
go ahead and warm it up some more!
Found 15 head… more are out there somewhere!
Find me here!
