English Shadow

Posted on May 6, 2010January 8, 2015
imwatching
Honestly…
He lives for me.
He watches for me.
He is dejected when I’m not around.
He howls when I leave and he can’t go.
He wants to crawl in my lap and snuggle.
He knows I can find that *spot*.
He has me wrapped around his paw.
His fourth birthday was last week, and I didn’t even bake him a cake, but he loves me anyway!
He is my “Rimrock Lone Firelight of Shepherd’s Way”…
aka “Lucas”…
“bringer of light”…
So always…
“on those long, long nights by the lone firelight, while the huskies ’round in a ring, howl out their woes to the homeless snows”…
he will be there for me…
my English shadow.
Happy Late Birthday, Lucas!

Carol, Wyoming rancher

Since 2008, I’ve kept this photographic journal of life on our working Wyoming ranch.  I share ranch work, my family, crafts and DIY, my English Shepherds, Bravo and Indy, and a love for this land.  Enjoy this red dirt country!
