We gathered our steers out of our badlands allotment the other day. Pictured above are my partners for the day, Panama and Elsa.
Steers are easier to gather in some respects than cows… They don’t fight the dogs like a momma cow over her baby… Once movement has started with the steers, it usually keeps going… You just have to make sure it is in the proper direction! Steers are more flighty… which can be good or bad! Nevertheless, we got the job done…
They sell online next Tuesday through Northern Livestock Video Auction.
We are still amazed we can sell our yearlings this way… No one could have imagined doing it this way 20 years ago, much less the 100 years this ranch has been in business! I took video on this day… we’ll see how well it translates to television and internet!
Wish us luck, this is our big payday of the year.
