We spend sooooo much time preparing the library and food and crafting donations, that when we go home and collapse after it’s all over… we could still use a day of rest to recover! I’m getting ahead of myself.
We have always started our party at 6 pm, but this year, Craig Johnson requested an earlier start… just in case the mountain was snowy and icy… like a couple of years ago when Craig and wife, Judy, left in the middle of a blizzard! We happily obliged. We’re not stupid, Craig is the big draw for many people! When 5:30 rolled around, I was a tad nervous… we chalked it up to having a bigger library that we didn’t seem to fill it up as well as before our remodel. That changed in the next 15 minutes as people poured through the door in time to hear Craig and his new Longmire Christmas story.
I couldn’t resist taking this photo… our sign makes it clear what author was reading tonight!
The food tables were loaded…
We had a harpist playing Christmas music!!! It was very well received.
We ended up with over 150 items donated for our silent auction. For a population of 230, that’s pretty good.
It ended up being a pretty spectacular evening. Thank you, Ten Sleep and surrounding communities, for your continued support. We’re very blessed!
Thank you, Craig and Judy Johnson, for your willingness to give of yourselves and your time to support tiny libraries like ours. It makes such an impact here. Sincerely… we thank you!

Sounds like a great library party! I’m envious. One of the downsides of living in a larger place is that this sort of community feeling can get lost…
I want to let you (and Craig Johnson) know that one of the reasons why I keep reading the Longmire stories, when there are so many, many, many other books, magazines, newspapers, newsletters and other printed materials demanding my attention, is because you help keep him top of mind for me. He supports you, and because you tell me about that, I support him! Life is a big wheel.
You have a wonderful community there! Congratulations on all of the work you and others put into it!
Wow! I’m so impressed. Fantastic job!
What a great evening you all had. Food table looks yummy as do the donations. Lovely photo of Craig reading his story.
Wow! That’s VERY nice! Yes, very good for the small population!
It’s a great party!
