Recommend

I’m trying something new and thought I’d share.

In my chicken coop, my nesting boxes are actually five gallon buckets.

It’s a battle to keep straw in these buckets. Straw helps keep your eggs clean, plus it cushions them, because sometimes chickens are weird and they will lay standing up! But chickens being chickens, they scratch to settle in and soon all the straw is out of the bucket once again. Enter this product. No, they don’t know who I am or that I’m writing about them.

These little paper backed aspen tree excelsior squares fit into my buckets just right.

I’ve tried this for a couple of days.
My eggs are clean.

While you can tell they’ve been scratched at, they’re holding up. So far, I’d recommend them!

We learn something new from you every day. Thanks. So if you just use boxes, does the straw still get scratched out? Does the smoothness of the bucket make it easier to scratch the straw out? What do the chickens say about it?? 😉
