That’s the way it feels.

On my way to work this morning, I could easily see the wall of smoke.
The last lightning storm that passed through was impressive. I did a Facebook livestream of watching the storm from a distance. It was no surprise the next day when fires popped up. Some were less than an acre in size, some have been swallowed by larger fires, some continue to grow.
Not far from the Vees Fire (that made us nervous last week) is the Spring Creek Fire. The total burned area for the Vees Fire was 5,229 acres. Right now, the Spring Creek Fire is sitting at 3,000 acres.

It’s tricky… running up various canyons…
It’s just north of the Vees Fire.
What really has been bothering us at home, with smoke and ash, is the Red Canyon Fire outside of Thermopolis. Black Mountain Road and Kirby are part of it, many ranchers over there are losing all of their grass. I can’t find any current updates but it was listed at 34,000 acres at noon, and I heard it hit 50,000 acres this afternoon, driven by 50 miles per hour wind.

Here, the wind was blowing south to north…

The wind shifted, bringing the smoke to us… which made for a very eerie sunset! We’re definitely sitting on the wrong side of a campfire!
