Trail of Tears Walk

Posted on December 6, 2025December 6, 2025

Victoria and I continue our virtual walk along the 1833 Trail of Tears. We are ranked 181 out of 800+ teams. Over two hundred teams have completed their journeys. We are 55% done, having walked 257 miles.

We have reached Milestone 9, the most northern point of our walk through Arkansas.

”Chief Folsom and Chief Nitakachi’s people marched north from Arkansas Post and joined the Memphis to Littlerock Military Road at a place called the Grand Prairie. They continued to march westward toward Littlerock in the freezing temperatures.”

This military road was paid for by the US Government. The eastern portion was notorious for often flooding through the swampy areas. It was not a good road even in good weather, but with cold, snow, and bitter winds, the journey was horrible.

There are plenty of Milestones ahead of us, so we will keep you informed as we continue.

Carol, Wyoming rancher

Since 2008, I’ve kept this photographic journal of life on our working Wyoming ranch.  I share ranch work, my family, crafts and DIY, my English Shepherds, Bravo and Indy, and a love for this land.  Enjoy this red dirt country!
