Innovative

Posted on March 22, 2026March 22, 2026

While I continue to struggle to pair my camera and iPad and download some cool photos… I thought I’d share a bit more on water saving techniques but not the check dams and leaky weirs from yesterday. This is for those of you living on city streets with gutters and curbs.

I’m sure you’ve seen the rain pouring down the gutters, and thought, we should save that water instead of watching it run away! Well, I have, but that probably comes from living most of my life in an arid country!

I’d encourage you to go to YouTube and look up Rainwater Harvesting and Brad Lancaster. My favorite video he has made is this one, where runoff from parking lots are watering small “gardens” in those traffic dividers. I could see this in use in so many places… and it makes sense! He basically has cut into the gutters and curbs and lowered the soil so that a natural area with native plants and edibles can be watered from all the excess water.

Those of you in town might want to check this type of thing out… why not use the free rain water to water your plants along the street? It won’t work in all situations but kudos to the guys being innovative in their thinking!

Can you see that I may be worrying about severe drought in Wyoming?
