Kid’s Steer

Posted on December 29, 2025December 29, 2025

I ran down to see the progress of all the various pipelines and tanks. Most of the pipelines have been covered back up with plastic ends sticking up through the dirt, waiting for their tanks to appear. Vernon had dug a trench clear past Johnny’s house down to the creek. Daniel and I discussed his ideas for the 4H shed, which hasn’t been used really since Vernon was in 4H. It will now have water and will be a good place for his kids to use.

You can see Daniel in the trench with Roper watching him.

Jaxon arrived in the skid steer to have a bit of practice backfilling in trenches.

A little instruction…

A trial run…

Another word or two…

And we left him to it.

Daniel laughingly told of Vernon putting him on equipment the first time with much fewer instructions! I should have taken an after photo, but I didn’t drive over there and I’m sure it’s done well. I told Jaxon later that not many kids his age get to drive a skid steer! Maybe it’s a kid’s steer? Not to be confused with those black ones standing in the corral…
