Culprits

Posted on May 19, 2026May 19, 2026

I had plans to go to town, Vernon, Daniel, Tess, and Brandon were there working with our heifers in the feedlot. I was moving slow, planning on grocery shopping and hitting the greenhouses, too. Then I heard a four wheeler drive up. Megan wondered if I wanted to have an adventure. “Always,” I said.

The culprits. Some of our cows are in the neighbor’s field. They came from up above but we doubted they’d go back up. After checking where we thought they’d come from, and putting up the downed gate, and gathering the stragglers we took off across the field.

We forgot about the bridge… which can be a big obstacle… but the old cow in the lead was a trooper and went right across. Good cow!

We were very lucky, they were cooperative all the way.

That was only half of the adventure!
