Last night we celebrated Quinlan’s birthday.

It was a good time. But as it grew darker, we couldn’t help but notice lightning. Ugh. It’s soooo dry here, lightning is the last thing this country needs.

The boys went to a fire not long ago called the Cow Camp Fire. They spent two days there before leaving it to other locals and professionals.

These are a couple of Brandon’s photos.

Then, today came the call. A fire had started. Off Daniel went. Brandon was in Worland. They’re calling it the Deep Creek Fire. Daniel had thought they might have seen more smoke and would I drive up the hill to look around? Just like old times, I zipped up the mountain with binoculars. I was happy to report no other smokes. I did watch the helicopter drop water on the Deep Creek Fire. Daniel was home after dark. I haven’t talked to him, but I’m thrilled to have him home.
We will watch carefully over the next few days, praying nothing is smoldering along.
