Solar Pump

Posted on September 15, 2026September 15, 2026

We started to do this yesterday, but we had to search hard for the right pipe and then Daniel left for the fire… so we were back at it again this afternoon.

The location is next to the little A-frame well house. We are installing a solar pump to get water to a stock tank uphill along the skyline.

The pipe mount is pounded into rocky soil. Thank goodness for the skid steer!

Next we align it to face south. Brandon is the only one tall enough to see the compass and the bracket at the same time!

Next, the frame is bolted on. I’ll most likely miss the rest of the installation as my next two days will be at the library. That’s a bummer… but I will return to photograph the finished project.

Carol, Wyoming rancher

Since 2008, I’ve kept this photographic journal of life on our working Wyoming ranch.  I share ranch work, my family, crafts and DIY, my English Shepherds, Bravo and Indy, and a love for this land.  Enjoy this red dirt country!
