Let’s Rodeo!

Posted on July 6, 2009December 29, 2014
The 4th in Ten Sleep means parade.
The 4th in Ten Sleep means street dance.
The 4th in Ten Sleep means RODEO!
Now I’ve taken photos of the parade every year but this one because…
We were Grand Marshals.
A friend took this one…
parade1
There’s me and my boys, and Victoria and Vernon… unseen is Johnny who is carrying our “Greet Ranch A-A 1909/2009” flag.
Seconds later all our horses spooked at the applause announcing our centennial of ranching.
It could have been embarrassing.
Thank goodness it wasn’t!
Here we are… all aboard… our reputation intact!
parade2
I’ve never taken my camera to the street dance…
Never even thought about it…
Don’t need to record most of what goes on there!
But the rodeo…
ah…
rodeo…
It’s the kids…
parade3
(Sam won the mutton busting belt buckle… he’s the kid in the helmet while his older brother lays on the ground.  Way ta go, Sam!)
It’s seeing the kids you’ve known since birth do crazy things like the wild horse race…
parade4
And winning…
Though it cost B. 7 stitches…
parade5
And it is visiting with my friends the entire time.
It is just FUN.
Tomorrow…
More rodeo!

Carol, Wyoming rancher

Since 2008, I’ve kept this photographic journal of life on our working Wyoming ranch.  I share ranch work, my family, crafts and DIY, my English Shepherds, Bravo and Indy, and a love for this land.  Enjoy this red dirt country!
