Sepia Shipping OOPE

Posted on September 6, 2009January 3, 2015
Before my eyes slam shut and I lose consciousness…
I’ll share my sepia flavored OOPE photos from today’s mountain excursion.
My favorite flavor!

The plan must be made…
the 30 old and open cows…
and the 24 heifers…
and 1 errant steer…
must be loaded onto the semi for the sale on Tuesday.
The calves from the cows will be weaned…
the heifers don’t have babies…
I was asked if we ever rebreed if they’ve missed and the answer is NO.
They’ve had their chance, if they don’t breed up, they don’t fit into our schedule and have to go.
We’ve AI’d our heifers and covered the end with a bull, but that’s the only second chance we give.
We can’t afford to be calving more months than we already do…
and they’d be really light compared to the other calves so good business says we can’t do it.
If a large amount didn’t breed…
It’d HURT!
But we spend money on good quality bulls, so we hope that NEVER happens!

The plan becomes action… thanks to good note taking!

Scenic slatted still life waits for the semi to show up… (!)

Red Rooster and Kate doze while activity swirls around them…

My FAVE of the day…
Brandon’s shadow is cast onto Red Rooster’s shoulder…
and just from the position of the rider…
I would always know this is Daniel aboard!
My boys…
in sepia…
or sepia shadow…
on shipping day…
