One Last Glimpse

Posted on September 28, 2009January 5, 2015
We gathered our pairs yesterday…
Mommas and 6 month old calves…
well, on the calves’ ages give or take a month or two…
The cows are pregnant and to grow that brand new baby nice and healthy…
it is best to kick that older kid off of the milk machine!
I can work myself up into feeling sorry for these mother/son/daughter scenarios…
I mean,
pick any movie when the kids are ripped away from their mothers and I’ll be in the audience bawling into my sleeve!
AAAahhhh!
Just the idea HURTS!
But!
I’ll guarantee you… these cows have never seen any of those movies…
In fact, the majority of the cows, once we separate them from their babies…
go blissfully out into the prairie…
and…
eat!
we3
OK…
So some lay there and chew their cud!

Some do stand around the edge of the corral…
Where we have trapped their calves waiting for the semis to arrive…
and bawl…
and the mother in me does empathize…
we1
The calves will be bawling in the corrals by my house a lot longer than the cows will be bawling on the mountain…
But that is Life in the Far Far West…
we4
What do we *finally* hear arriving??
we5
Yup…
Babies…
Your rides have arrived!
Mommas…
Take one last glimpse of your sons and daughters…
and say goodbye.
