Chain Cow

Posted on November 14, 2009January 7, 2015

After a coffee session in our local cafe, I followed Daily Coyote‘s advice last November and began to blog on a daily basis…

Her blog is EXTREMELY popular…
so I figured she knew what she was talking about!
I have made the attempt valiantly…
though not perfectly…

and along the way…

I have made friends of the internet variety.
Following links…
reading comments…
it is amazing how time flies when you are reading great stories or peeking into other people’s lives!
Somewhere along the way I met Susan at www.stonyriver.ie
Lord, she could make me laugh…
She could also make me cry…
She could make me think…
and I began to comment on her blog.
With most of a continent and an ocean between us…
I found a friend.
One that takes wonderful photographs of Ireland.
One that <insert my children’s groans and moans>  is also a Star Trek fan.
Yeah…
that’s me…
I’ve had the hots for Captain Kirk for a LOOONG time.

<sigh>
<or was that heavy breathing?>
Mensal (Mensan? Mensa-ite? Mensa-ian? I’m too dumb to figure it out!) Susan dreams about Mr. Spock…
Poor Dr. McCoy is left out in the cold again…
In one of her blogs, Susan had a little competition.
The prize?
A tiny bovine from Chick-fil-A that Susan got in the States while on vacation!
I’m telling this because…
I WON!
She arrived a while back.

Kinda cute if you’re into that beany baby style…
I think everyone in cities must believe all cows are black and white…
and wanna go live in California…
yeah, right…

Honestly, I had a problem with the cutesy little dairy cow promoting chicken.
You see…
this is a BEEF cattle ranch…
where sometimes we get a tad cranky when dairy farmers dump their surplus dairy cows on the beef market and flatten out *our* prices…
where we promote ALL-AMERICAN BEEF, not CHICKEN!
So while the little black and white Holstein posed with the rimrock and cattle in the background…
I whipped out my pocketknife.
I’d fix the little sucker…

AHHHHHH!
MUCH BETTER!
I have a GREAT idea…
since this little heifer began her “life” on a blog from Ireland…
and came to a blog in Wyoming…
I believe she should continue her travels in blogland…
so…
who wants to be next?
How about you, Daily Coyote?
Or Kari up in Montana at http://montanaforreal.blogspot.com (who routinely makes me spew coffee all over my monitor and keyboard)?
Anyone interested in this well-traveled, miniscule, chain-letter/blog heifer?

Carol, Wyoming rancher

Since 2008, I’ve kept this photographic journal of life on our working Wyoming ranch.  I share ranch work, my family, crafts and DIY, my English Shepherds, Bravo and Indy, and a love for this land.  Enjoy this red dirt country!
