Yeah…
I know…
I FAIL!
I don’t have their weekly photos ready…
But I was WORKING!
<insert whine>
Honestly,
yesterday we sorted off our replacement heifers…
and today we retagged them, age branded them, and tattooed them.
And then we had to trail them to the Mills Place.
LET ME EXPLAIN…
We retag them because they have their “baby” eartags still…
They were the eartags given to them a day or two after birth…
the same number as their mommas.
Now they are grown cows, going to have their own babies in the spring and it is time for them to “grow up” and get their “big girl eartags”.
I do!
We have always age branded them as another identification method.
Since they were born in 2008…
they get an 8 on their left hip.
An 8 will also start their new eartag number…
We also tattoo that number into their left ear.
Look closely in the video and you can see how 454 becomes 854…
<love that green tattoo ink>
We trailed them with just 4 wheelers today…
something we RARELY do.
Which meant when four wayward heifers decided to cross the creek…
I had to bail off my 4 wheeler and wade the 36º water!
uh uh uh uh…
brr! that was COLD!
I also had a chance to drive through the junk pile at the Mills Place…
oooh…
I need to go take some pictures there!
On the return home…
Lucas rode on the 4 wheeler…
but Dally enjoyed the run!
I’ve written about this before…
in fact…
it was these days last year when I developed my OOPE technique of taking pictures!
Today was a classic OOPE day…
so I created my first OOPE video for you!
It was a fast way to share multiple photos with you…
What do you think of it?
