Throwback Thursday: Brad and Dan, v.2.0

Posted on November 14, 2024

This was first posted November 13, 2014. You guys are simply a blessing, you know that, right?  Writing what I figured would be the most controversial blog post I’ve ever written, I just knew I’d lose readers/fans/lurkers.  Maybe I have, but at least they were kind about it and simply slipped away!  Thanks for sharing…

Dog Warmers

Posted on November 12, 2024

Today was a quick trip to physical therapy and the grocery store in Worland, followed by the little girls’ basketball game. The morning was overcast and cool, spitting rain by afternoon, and a slushy snowy drive home after the game. Definitely a change in the weather… I’m still looking for a home for these two…

Yum

Posted on November 11, 2024

Two batches of applesauce later… While they grow excellent pears and apples in Ten Sleep Canyon, I don’t usually get any apples because for years, when hunters come out from Minnesota and Wisconsin, they bring us cases of apples. I set out to peel a case of apples when Victoria texted and mentioned she had…

Definitely Not

Posted on November 10, 2024

Heifers worked and crew fed… it was time to move them. I ran around throwing the food into the refrigerator, then Bravo and I jumped in my Jeep to go flag in front of the heifers on the highway. Three miles on the highway and a mile to the field. Highway traffic is minimal, but…

Morning found me in the side by side, riding along as we gathered our heifers. The first step in choosing our replacement cows was to get them in the corral to sort off the list Brandon had made. While everyone went to work sorting, I retired to the house. Last time I sorted cows… things…

“I did not hunt any the next day but contented myself following the others around just keeping in Kodak range and trying to get a snap at one of them in the act of firing at game.  But we had no luck and spent the second night in camp with nothing killed except the one…

Throwback Thursday: Wear Some Clothes Today, Eh?, v.2.0

Posted on November 7, 2024

This was first posted November 3, 2014. I keep meaning to recreate the last photo! Wear some clothes today, eh?”  was the recommendation of my husband this morning.  Before  your imagination runs amok, it was his way of telling Victoria and I that it was cold outside and that warm clothing was the order of…

Well Done

Posted on November 5, 2024

Out you go! All the calves have been weaned and all momma cows now head to the badlands to graze the good hard grass of the Big Horn Basin. While Brandon, Megan, Quinlan, and Lorelei braved the chilly wind on horseback, Vernon and I drove the side by side along fence lines, closing gates, tightening…
