Saturday Rain Moments

Posted on August 15, 2009January 1, 2015
Last night it poured… and then again this morning…
We had a trip planned today… going to Douglas, Wyoming to the State Fair to pick up our Centennial Ranch sign from US Senators Enzi and Barrasso, and US Congresswoman Lummis.
The heavy rain made us stick to the paved roads… adding two hours to our trip… and making for a extra long day… 10 hours of driving.
We were happy to get there though and join with the other 19 Centennial Farms/Ranches that were recognized.
I’ll post the photo when they send us the copy.

As I was walking out the door this early morning… we received a phone call that a house in Ten Sleep was on fire…
Turned out the lightning started a fire in their wooden shop building and it was a total loss, thankfully, it wasn’t their house…

Driving on the interstate on the return trip…
we began to pass a Wal*mart semi truck…
It was raining… well, pouring, actually…
and we started to lose visibility…
I thought it was all the splashback from the semi… but nope.
It was rain.
Within a few seconds we had lost all visibility and had to pull off the road.
It was a little nerve wracking for a few minutes, hoping all the other drivers could see enough to avoid us, though we were pulled as far off the road as we dared.
Pouring rain in Wyoming doesn’t last long, so we resumed the trip and our breathing within minutes.

I’ve wanted to post these pictures…
And since today seems to be a lackluster day for me (must be worn out from travel)…
Here goes.

A wittle wittle buck deer peers over the sagebrush…

And if I could figure out how to let you enlarge this composite photo… You’d see about two hundred head of elk scattered along the hillside near our mountain pasture.  If anyone cares to explain how to do that… I’ll repost it so you can see all the elk.  It’s pretty cool!
