When the mountain buffalo roamed the Big Horns…
so, too, did their predators…
That day as I took photos about weaning and a reeking dog…
I walked around looking at the ground for evidence of these predators…
Here was evidence!
A flake of chert…
trash leftover from making an arrowhead or point…
debitage!
In fact…
I wandered around looking at the loose dirt of molehills or gopher mounds to see what they had scraped to the surface…
and I spied…
something awfully suspicious!
See that rock on the bottom left quadrant?
Close up it looked like this…
Bifacially worked… it was the tip to a point!
How cool.
This is the first artifact I’ve found in a while…
While I danced around thrilled with my discovery…
Thanking the gods for blessing my search…
Vernon pocketed this.
Aaaaargh!
He found it IN the corral…
The very same corral I ALWAYS look over…
The very same corral we work hundreds of cattle in…
It was broken lengthwise and crosswise…
but what a gorgeous little remnant of hunters…
the predators that fed off of the mighty buffalo.
