Cats and Dogs, Foxes and Dogs

Posted on May 24, 2010January 15, 2015

.53 inches

That’s the precipitation for the past 24 hours as of 7 am this morning.  It doesn’t sound like *anything*, I know, but in Wyoming it is.  It has continued to rain all day, so by morning again… perhaps another .5 is possible.  That’s 1/12 of our entire precip for the year.  Duck jokes, ark jokes, “what’s a cubit? jokes abound…
and then there’s the serious words from the National Weather Service…
HYDROLOGIC OUTLOOK
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RIVERTON WY

...SIGNIFICANT ADDITIONAL RISES ALONG STREAMS AND RIVERS WEDNESDAY
AFTERNOON THROUGH SATURDAY MORNING...

EXCESSIVE SNOWMELT RUNOFF IS EXPECTED ALONG AREA STREAMS AND RIVERS
WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH SATURDAY MORNING. EXPECT SIGNIFICANT
ADDITIONAL RISES ALONG MANY CREEKS AND RIVERS WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON
THROUGH SATURDAY MORNING.

ANY PRECIPITATION THAT FALLS ON FRIDAY EVENING THROUGH SATURDAY
MORNING WILL CAUSE EVEN HIGHER RIVER RISES TO OCCUR.

STAY TUNED FOR FURTHER UPDATES SUCH AS WATCHES AND WARNINGS IF CONDITIONS
WARRANT.

Seems pretty strange to have to worry about high water for a THIRD time… but I’ll be
there with my camera when it happens.

Until then…

Enjoy some messed up creations of mine. I’ve been trying to use clipping masks and

imaginative borders in Photoshop… but somewhere in the instructions, details are left

out and I putter around and putter around… someday… I’ll have borders and a

watermark in one action and I’ll be satisfied.

For a while.

Then I can figure out why GoDaddy freaks out with my print spacing and type for the

most random of reasons. Ugh.

These fox kits (there are three) reside close to our road, and one isn’t shy in the least.

She sits there and scratches fleas and poses for me.

On occasion the other two make a quick appearance… look closely and you’ll see #3 on the backside of the sagebrush.

I have quick red foxes.

I have lazy brown dogs.

I fear the two together… would do more than jump! Let’s not find out.

Carol, Wyoming rancher

Since 2008, I’ve kept this photographic journal of life on our working Wyoming ranch.  I share ranch work, my family, crafts and DIY, my English Shepherds, Bravo and Indy, and a love for this land.  Enjoy this red dirt country!
