Twilight Zone

Posted on September 19, 2010January 13, 2015

I was up on the mountain today.

For part of it, Victoria and I took our dogs past the old Bar C cabin.
I’ve never seen this cabin standing, but over the years, I have watched it lower itself like a grandfather settling in a soft couch.  Bit by bit, it disappears into the ground.

There’s something about the window on this wall.
Like a baited trap, it lures dogs to its location.
bc1
Each in their own turn visited the window.
Stepping into its depths…
Smelling each alluring scent…
bc2
Filled with a multitude of squirrels’ pinecone leavings…
the scent obviously was irresistible.
bc3
Not quite a wormhole into another dimension or parallel time line…
but five out of five dogs climbed into and out of this window…
What was in this Twilight Zone?
bc5
Some gravity defying power?
bc6
Where even little dogs can keep big logs from falling onto their heads?
That must have been it!
