More rain and snow today, just when we were getting dried out from the last storm!
I want to thank everyone who has shared, tweeted, and linked to my Atlas Blizzard story. It seems we are spreading the news and making people aware of the tragedy in the Black Hills. You guys are great!
Tonight I have a Minute Movie for you! This short movie joins my other Minute Movies in showing a brief glimpse into our ranchlife. We gathered our mountain pasture and brought them down to a lower elevation, where we overnighted in a friend’s pasture. The next day, we took them to our pasture where they will spend the next few weeks.
It’s pretty easy for us to see the lessening snow levels and then disappearance, while the grass lengthens and grows more green. The cows were perfectly happy up high, it was a struggle to get them to MOVE, but when they hit that last pasture… we couldn’t have moved them further if we’d wanted to! They *thought* they were happy, but we showed them a better choice!
Enjoy this Minute Movie!

Thank you for the wonderful video today! I always like to ‘ride along’
(and the black cows against the white snow was very pretty).
Cows are some of my favorite people!
Carol, there’s just something about seeing those cows trail one by one down the trail that brings joy and a smile to my face. So peaceful and beautiful! I enjoyed your video!
I shared on my blog. Hopefully it will give folks more insight into the wide open spaces of ranching here in the west!
Oh, I sooooooo enjoyed the video….. the crunch of the hooves on the snow in the background was like the frosting on the cake of being there.
Thank you SO much. I am a newcomer to your website and enjoy it so much. Thank you for taking valuable time out of your life to share with us. I am praying for you all.
