Wonderful/Whew!

Posted on March 8, 2014

We attended Vernon’s uncle’s birthday party this afternoon.  It was Uncle George’s 100th birthday!  That was quite the deal… the governor of Wyoming said so!… and it was lots of fun visiting with everyone.

100th birthday

Spring has hit hard here… every little slope, drainage, gully, wash, draw, ravine, and rut has water pouring down it.  Enough that the ice that was just going out of the creek has created ice jams and flooded low parts along the creek.  We don’t have too much trouble up here, but farther downstream and even the Big Horn River near Worland has some pretty good flooding going on.

ice jamVictoria and the twins have headed back home… We wore those little boys out, playing in the snow and mud and chasing bubbles and using sidewalk chalk on the dry parts of the concrete and driving various pieces of equipment and chasing dogs and chickens and visiting baby calves and cleaning pens and spreading straw and…

What a wonderful visit we had!

Whew!

I thought about you this morning when our news mentioned there was flooding on the Nowood. Glad you’re OK so far.

That’s sounds like a special weekend with a 100th Birthday, and a nice
visit with the twins. Loved the old photos you included, and the texture
of the wood on the darker, variegated frame. Bet we can’t find much of that wood anymore.
