High Water

Posted on May 29, 2014

ts canyon

After work today, I buzzed up the mountain just to see how Ten Sleep Creek was doing in the canyon.  It was wild in town, but the canyon is rougher and tougher… and here it is about three times it’s normal size… just below Leigh Creek Monument.

wigwam

And down lower near the Wigwam Rearing Station…  believe me, I didn’t very close to the edge!

There’s a few people nervous, but I haven’t heard of anything disastrous happening… thank goodness!

barn

Then there’s Ten Sleep’s most photographed barn… which usually doesn’t have high water around it.

It was a different outing on a nice, though slightly grey, day…

I’ve been thinking about you guys. There has been talk of high water in Ten Sleep Creek on the news. These are beautiful photos nonetheless.

Beautiful. The power of water, well, of nature, is quite literally at times breathtaking. Beautiful, yet scarey, all at the same time.

Beautiful, but scary at the same time. That peaceful river you followed to my house is boiling too. Old timber rushing downriver.

I love that old barn picture, specifically with the high water! Reminds me of some high water days in my childhood. I remember once when the corner of a hay field was so deep that you could swim in it. Swimming where there’s normally just grass, and with said grass as the bottom… that really stuck in my memory!
