I spent most of the day out in my studio. I didn’t get that much done, but it SEEMS like I was working the entire time!
I have a few people who might come for a visit… and I was hoping to have the studio as an option for those who wanted a bit more privacy. Not that you couldn’t stay out there now, but every little bit helps.
Today’s project was the finish work around the big window.
I used 1×8’s to fit precisely in line with the crooked wall.
I was going to finish with something like 1×4, cutting many layers to match the boards. Now, I’m not so sure. It’s just not going to look good.
I racked my brain trying to think what else I could do…
I have enough old dog books, discarded by the library, that I could open them, and place them over the corner and nail in place. They’re just bigger than I’d like, covering most of my 1×8…
Then I thought maybe I’d just paper mache book pages around the corner, using multiple, MULTIPLE layers.
Then there’s the paper bag route, scrunch it, unfold it, and apply sealer. That would give a leather look to the corners…
I have chinking cement/sand… but that’s a lot of space…
License plates…
Scrap wood…
Newspaper tin…
I’m open to ideas…
Find me here!
How about putting a vertical (narrow) board in the back of the gap – maybe level with the most recessed boards. Then cut smaller boards, or skinny logs or branches, to bridge the gaps on the least recessed boards. This would somewhat mimic the gappy logs in the divider to the right.
If you ever need new metal fence posts or know anyone who would like to buy them at a good price, let us know. Neil was always going to build a fence on some property we have when he had horses but never did, and now we don’t have horses!
That looks gorgeous! I like your paper bag idea and also think Kathryn Jane’s idea sounds interesting. It’s too hot today to have any ideas of my own… lol (that’s my story.. )
The paper bag faux leather look sounds good. What’s newspaper tin?

Looking good, girl! Looks like what I went through paneling my garage. Keep it up. I am proud of you.
how about chinking in something like a branch, or super skinny log, upright?
Hahaha! Sounds like you have too many good ideas already!
