Granaries

Posted on February 7, 2016February 8, 2016

With calving season two weeks away, Vernon wanted to go somewhere before the Big Onslaught.  We chose to head to Powell and Cody.

There was nothing specific we needed, but we hit one of our favorite farm and ranch stores, test drove a couple of nice vehicles, and ran to Walmart and Dairy Queen!

I tried to take a few photos through my windshield to share, and for tonight  I chose these..

This is Powell’s painted granary.

Powell granaryNow, I’ll admit to Montana winning the granary/town quota, but Wyoming has a few cool ones…

These are in Greybull.

cowboy granaryAnd the other one…

Indian granaryThey’re both showing a little age, with paint peeling off the tin, but I thought you might appreciate them anyway.

No painting tonight, too late and too tired!

I grew up in Powell, all my sib’s and Dad still live there. Last summer my Dad and I took a drive to Ten Sleep. It had been a while since I had been in Ten Sleep. I love the area and have enjoyed your blog. Between your blog with fun incredible photos and Reboot(which is how I found your blog) it keeps me in touch with my Wyoming Roots. I think you are a talented painter. Thanks for your blog 🙂

Awesome! I’ve never seen anything like these granaries before. Such a cool idea!! Here in Western NY there is a “quilt trail” of barns that have been painted with different quilt patterns on them. Both these forms of local art ought to be featured on the news!!!

WOW! Wyoming should be proud. Plus, I happen to know that not only are there some neat buildings and art there, there are also some wonderful folks. I know!!!!

Every little town up there has them though, don’t you think? They always look so sad and forlorn…
