Saturday

Posted on February 14, 2016February 13, 2016

It was a nice day, over 50˚, sunny… and I was just thinking about going to check on my bees… when I noticed a large dark cloud.  Within minutes it was cloudy, the wind picked up… THEN THE WIND PICKED UP!  We ended up with a gust of 49 mph, Tess had 54!  It maintained in the 30 mph range for a while.  Raindrops fell… then I glanced up and snowflakes were blowing sideways!  By 4:30 the sun was back out here, though it still looked nasty to the north.

Needless to say, I was very glad I wasn’t down with my hives cracked open!

I stayed huddled inside… cleaning out cabinets.  How in the world the two of us end up with 30,015 pairs of gloves is beyond me…

Two questions have come up… and since I didn’t advertise for an official Q&A… I’ll do them now!

How old is Eden?  Eden will be two on July 9th.  She was born on my mom’s birthday, so it’s very easy for me to remember!

What is the difference between a farmer and a rancher?  The short answer?  A farmer gains most of his income through crops, a rancher through livestock.  Many farmers have small herds of cattle (did you know the average size of a herd is 40 head?), and many ranchers grow crops (like our alfalfa and oats).

This whitetail buck was very unconcerned with my photography… as were the antelope still bedded down behind him!

I don’t know whether it’s just me or if everyone else experiencing issues with your blog.
It appears like some of the written text within your
content are running off the screen. Can someone else please provide feedback and let me know if this is happening
to them too? This might be a problem with my web browser because I’ve had this happen before.
    Appreciate it

I remember the bipolar weather as being one of the coolest and scariest parts of that area. I headed out on scenic backroad. In lots of sunshine and wound up temporarily stranded by a flash flood. Since I was safe on high ground, I just enjoyed the show!

Somehow I always imagined that you would have mostly mule deer. Nice white-tail though! And I was wondering if the deer I saw yesterday were all does, or bucks that had already shed their antlers. This answers that question!
