Today was one of our last carefree days for a time… so we declared it Picnic Day.

Years ago I took my family up to the ranch and Johnny and Oneta took us out in the hills for a picnic. Johnny made a little campfire and we had roasted hotdogs. My youngest was about 5 at the time and when Johnny asked her if she wanted a hotdog, she said, “Yeah, but I want a clean one.” There’s nothing better than a hotdog roasted over a sagebrush fire!! (and I like them dirty!)

We use to do that in the grove in our farm yard in Iowa, no prairie dogs or such beautiful scenery, but the same results!
