Solar Eclipse Time Lapse

Posted on August 25, 2017August 24, 2017

Yes, once again, #tbt is cancelled.  I need to find more old photos!

This is my time lapse video.

It covers the entire eclipse, although I slowed it way down in the middle so you could actually SEE the eclipse.  I purposefully did NOT include the sun in my frame as I wanted to show how it changed the landscape.

As the sky begins to darken, you can notice a “streak” go right to left.  I have no idea what it is.  Perhaps an airplane? (click on the video to make it larger)

Well, that’s about it, folks.  The eclipse was amazing… but that’s about all I captured.  We return to ranchlife tomorrow!

That was so clever to show the effect of the eclipse on the landscape and show how the earth gradually turns to dark night in the middle of the day!! Just think if someone hadn’t read or heard any news about the eclipse and it suddenly got dark in the middle of the day–that might freak anyone out!! It is so cool to watch that happen in your video. Thanks so much.

Thanks… it was all a gamble, but it paid off.

nicely done.. I remember a partial one here in NZ early 1980’s.. and thinking it was like being inside an underexposed photo. also.. I seem to recall there being an associated breeze that past with the shadow???

I didn’t notice a breeze, but the temperature definitely dropped, I’ve heard ranges from 15 to 22 degrees from various people. I expected some, but not that much! It was impressive.

fascinating.. I remember experiencing a partial one early 1980’s in NZ, kind of like being in an underexposed photo,.. do I recall a weird wind that went with it??

    Fascinating.
I’ve watched several times and haven’t seen the “streak” but maybe I’m trying too hard.
    Thanks.
