Another day of gathering and trailing home…
Morning sunrise adds a glow to Zip’s face…
While we’ve had the use of this pasture for years, we’ve also had to adjust how we trail home through the neighbor’s fields. They’ve replanted and gained pivots… and what fallow fields we used to cross, are now lush hay and oats! We have trailed both sides of this red rocky ridge… but last year, we trailed along the top. Somehow I missed that day, but this year, I was there.
What a magical and wonderful ridge! I think I would be up there all the time, playing in the rocks, taking photos in the long light of sunset… and looking for treasures!
Of course, I was working…
We had two calves get back on us while trying to climb to the top of the ridge… so once we reached home, we dug out their mommas out of the herd, and Daniel and I trailed them clear back to the pasture. Reunited, I trailed them BACK home again, while Daniel made another loop looking for some miscreants we missed…
That simply explains why I got to ride by here three times yesterday… I enjoyed them all…
Find me here!
Steep trail. Interesting picture seeing the cattle in the lead down in the canyon. I can see why you are on horseback rather than riding a jeep or ATV.
Carol how blessed you Are ! Such amazing country! Thanks also for your reccomending the book on Edward Curtis. It is very good. Just think about the Indians and buffalo that covered that ground….
How I miss riding! Enjoy it a bit for me too. 🙂
I try to! So many of my friends don’t ride anymore…
Zip looks like he understands the process and is paying attention. I love to see horses with their ears forward.
He’s always looking!
YESH!!! another Monday morning greeting with your horses! Thanks. 🙂
My pleasure!
Bet you had a good collection of red dirt/dust when that ride was over!
And, yes, I wore a white T-shirt that day… not so white any more!
