Makes me nostalgic for our family farm in Iowa, where we had a little fire pit behind the barn and did s’mores every summer with the kids and grandkids…
back on the farm, dad built a brick fireplace using bricks from the chimney from our old house, in the grove across the drive way to our new house, summer evenings we would have a weenie roast for supper, complete with mom’s good potato salad & tomatoes from the garden, always “burned” a few marshmallows for desert! & we also made toast with our roasting sticks, fresh cut willow ,forked sticks , what a great time we had! growing up on the farm was the best!!
