#TBT : Butter

Posted on December 14, 2018

Another of Johnny’s old treasures that he passed on to me…

Written in my mother-in-law’s hand…

“Grandma Arnold’s butter mold”

How many times did she use this wooden mold, I wonder?

Also in the collection… a butter paddle for working the last of the buttermilk out of the butter.

I need to get some fresh cream from the neighbors!

I used to make the butter a lot as a kid. I miss both making it and eating homemade butter. I’ve never seen a butter mold though, and didn’t realize that was a butter paddle.

Priceless treasures! last weekend I found an old toy wagon at an antique store, missing the team of horses & the little man that sits on the wagon seat, we had a toy like this back in the 50’s & who knows where mom & dad got it, my oldest brother, age 77 remembers playing with it- now I’m on the look out for the missing pieces, also no one remembers where ours went-
