Yesterday’s post began the story of 520’s calf.
… 520 slides down to the ground. The guys get to jacking on the calf puller.
Trying to keep everything in proper position, while still pulling on the calf’s legs…
Whew! It’s out!
Honestly, I didn’t think it looked good. But Vernon grabbed some weed stems and tickled up the calf’s nose. What do you do if someone tickles your nose?
Why you shake your head and blow your nose and then you inhale. And this little cutie did just that. Another shake of its head and momma noticed. She stood up and started to clean her calf.
It really was just that fast. What an excellent momma!
I love happy endings!!!! If you’d like to see the video of 520 cleaning up her new son, you can click on the Instagram link on the sidebar (it looks like a camera – or a box with a circle in it!!). No need for an Instagram account, just click on the video and it should play for you.
The best thing? That “momma cow moo” which is more of a “meh”!
Enjoy!

Good work everyone.
Glad Mom and baby are ok. Good news indeed.
Wonder feeling when it all works out for momma and baby.
Sooooo informative for a city girl!!
Great story! So glad the calf made it. Are these 2 still close to the house? Is it possible for you to post a picture of these 2 baldies now that the baby is a few days old? So sorry about Eden. It’s been a while since “we’ve “ had puppies to watch grow up on your ranch.
Happy for a Happy Ending! well done all-
Oh how lovely! I forgot that sound of wet ears slapping around as they shake their head. So familiar to hear it again though. I’m so glad this one made it!
