Girls and Their Toys

Posted on May 3, 2019May 3, 2019

Granted, I like jewelry. I like crafts. I like coats, but other clothing is … eh. I have multiple pairs of cowboy boots, but other shoes are… eh. My house is fairly well decorated the way I want… except that blasted downstairs bathroom! I can look through a garden catalog and wish… but I’m not that good of a gardener… My current “wants” run to outside yard improvements… a new sidewalk… more stone to make more flowerbeds… and that big item of a new deck…

But, seriously, I don’t wish for much!

Then, I had inspiration. I’ve repeatedly tried to get some chainsaw work done this winter. I can’t ever seem to start the stupid things. They weigh a ton. They’re just about the most frustrating tool that exists.

I wanted a battery powered chainsaw!

When I mentioned it to Vernon, he had been thinking about one as well! Well, I wanted the tiny 12” version, of course, he was looking at the 16”. He let me go ahead and buy mine… waiting to see if I liked it or not before he purchases the bigger one! Well, at least we don’t have to share…

What do they say these days about items “sparking joy”? Yeah, well, that works for me… this thing is great!

Looks great Carol. You’ll have lots of fun as you ‘get things done’ and a great sense of achievement . Surrounding ourselves with stuff that sparks joy is a good place to be.

I’ve been thinking about one of these too — for all the reasons you listed. I’ll be shopping soon, and doing some trail work after that!

You will love a smaller chainsaw. I loved mine for years. Just don’t get carried away if you start trimming something! It’s so fun!!

My other half bought himself one last fall. I laughed. We live on a postage stamp lot! But he put it to good use trimming up and taking down old over grown juniper, I’d say bush but it was long past that stage. Trimmed up other stuff. Now we have a big pile of what would be good firewood and no fireplace. . I like it because it’s quiet. Not silent but not gas engine deafening.

He also bought himself a smoker last winter. I didn’t consider myself a fan of smoked meat in fact I generally don’t like it at all. But I have loved everything he’s made so far! Melt in your mouth pork shoulder. Same with the beef brisket. But the bacon! Oh the bacon was divine! I froze some of it…. oh yeah! pardon me, got to go find me some of that.

didn’t know they made battery chainsaws, I’m on my second electric one, the first saw did all my “heavy” cutting, the second saw spends most of it’s time in the shop, big trees are gone

I have had one for a couple of years, I love it. Takes a lot of bar oil though.

Thank you! Didn’t know they existed. We needed one, I wanted electric, someone else wanted gas. I can’t start them, either. Guess which kind we have with a waytoobigforme blade. Guess what Amazon will soon deliver? He’s going to have a problem with his “cousin’s starting this. Again, thank you. Your logs are shiny and beautiful!
